Ellesmere College Swimming Academy
Ellesmere College runs a long‑established performance swimming academy led by Head Coach Guy Worrow, supported by an experienced team of specialist coaches and strength‑and‑conditioning staff. The programme provides a fully integrated training and academic pathway from Year 5 to Year 13, with a strong record of producing swimmers who achieve county, regional, national and international standards, including junior and senior representation. The academy emphasises personal development, academic balance and wellbeing, and offers scholarships and means‑tested bursaries for talented swimmers.
Our programme has produced athletes who have excelled across every major stage of the sport, including World Championship semi‑finalists, multiple European Championship medallists (2 gold, 2 bronze), and Commonwealth Games podium finishes. Our swimmers have earned medals at the World Junior Open Water Championships, the European Youth Olympics, and the Commonwealth Youth Games, alongside an exceptional haul at the European Junior Championships (2 gold, 7 silver, 6 bronze). We’ve supported qualifiers for the Commonwealth Games, European Juniors, and the European Youth Olympic Festival, and proudly contributed three swimmers to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic team—including an Olympic gold medallist.
If you are considering applying for the Swimming Academy, we accept applications from Year 5 and above which open to scholarships and means tested bursaries. To be considered for a Swimming Scholarship, the candidate would need to be performing at:
- the equivalent of a regional standard
- and/or the use of national ranking system.
Sports Awards are typically stated as a maximum of 20% of school fees. To find out more about our scholarships and bursary programmes, click here.
