Wellington is home to a thriving swimming programme that provides students a wide range of opportunities in the water
Wellington College offers a vibrant and inclusive swimming programme supported by a highly skilled coaching team with expertise spanning open-water swimming, triathlon, competitive pool swimming across multiple age groups and continents, and British Triathlon coaching qualifications. Alongside the core swim squad, sessions regularly attract athletes from triathlon, modern pentathlon, and other sports seeking rehabilitation or cross‑training opportunities. With 10 hours of weekly pool time, swimmers at every level have the opportunity to train and progress to their full potential.
The College competes in fixtures against local schools each term and hosts 2–4 four‑school galas, contributing to a lively competitive calendar. The flagship event of the year is the prestigious Bath Cup, held at the London Aquatics Centre, where more than 80 independent schools from across Britain, Ireland, and the Channel Islands compete in a historic relay gala.
Wellington College also maintains a strong connection with Bracknell and Wokingham Swimming Club (BWSC), rooted in shared facilities and athlete development. Many Wellington swimmers represent BWSC in external competitions, with standout athletes—such as Joshua S.—competing at national level, including the British Summer Championships.
